- - THE TERRITORY: Narni is found in the exact geographic center of the Italian peninsula, in the Umbria region, this privileged center location allows you to reach Narni easily from Rome or Florence- - Next to Narni is also Superstrada (hiway) E 45 that will allow you to easily reach beautiful medieval towns like Orvieto, Assisi, Spoleto, Gubbio, Todi, Deruta, Perugia, Cortona and Tuscany. These cities have various interests that range from the landscapes to the architectural and culinary delights. The ancient is relived in the public squares, the castles, and the villages where we can be immersed in the many medieval, gothic and folkloristic manifestations of the Renaissance. Narni is a medieval city on top of a hill that has inspiring views of the gorge of the Black river. It was the first settlement of the Umbri, conquered later by the Romans. To this day it has kept intact the aspects of a medieval village. You can see the rocca Alborrnoziana dominating the town - Numerous monuments compose the historical center including the Dome, many Roman-Gothic churches, and Priori public square. Beneath St. Dominic's monastery, there is the underground of Narrni. The underground consists of a 12th century church, which was found only 20 years ago. Some of the oldest frescos in the city are still found within this church. There is a passage inside from which you can enter into a large room with a roman cistern, which is probably the remains of a roman house, or "domus". There is also a large dark room, which was the Tribunal of Inquisition, where the presumed heretics were put on trial. Several documents from the municipal archives, and traces on the masonry, left by torture instruments, prove that these trials existed. - - - In the outskirts there is Saint Cassiano Abby, the Speco of San Francesco and for those who love nature, there are the cascades of the Marmore in the national park of Umbria. - - With regard to the folkloristic events of Narni,  The fascinating ‘corsa dell’ anello (race of the ring), its known in Europe as one of the most beautiful reenactments of medieval competition, in which horses quest to conquer the ring. It takes place in the city of Rioni and it is accompanied by a historical parade of flag tossing and drummers. In this period the city is transformed completely into a medieval village complete with a tavern, in which musical and teatrali shows are carried out (this goes on from the beginning of April until mid May). Moreover Narni has a railway station from which you can reach the ‘eternal city’ of Rome in little under an hour. - - Directions to Narni : - - By car: From Rome, take autostrada to A1 Roma - Firenze, Orte exit, to take the Orte-Cerni connection, then the 2° exited Narni . - Or from the Northern Italy take E45 Rome direction, Narni exit . Once you reach the historic center of Narni park in Garibaldi Public square there is parking the “il Suffraggio”. Less than 200 meters (yards) away you will find the art Study in via XX Settembre 24. – - - By train: A train leaves hourly from Rome, Orte and Narni-Amelia. - From the station of Florence take a direct train for Rome Termini, then catch the train to Orte, Narni-Amelia. Once you are at the Narni station every 30 min or so a bus comes that brings you towards the historical center in the Garibaldi Public Square. - It is very important that you let us know your date and time of arrival as soon as you know them.
